This event tells a fun story that builds suspense as God repeatedly calls out to Israel’s last judge, Samuel. He had been left in Eli’s care by his mother who had promised to dedicate her son to God. Samuel and Eli finally figure out who is calling. Through this calling, God replaces Eli’s sons, who are evil and not qualified to lead the nation.
We are all in the place God has put us to serve. We probably won’t lead a nation over the remainder of our lives, but we can be available to do whatever God calls us to do.
