Who You Say I Am – Part 2Sample
When you look in the mirror you may not see fluffy wool or hear yourself say, 'BAAA', but the Bible says we are sheep! Jesus shared a story about sheep. Jesus wasn't just talking about sheep; He was talking about finding lost people.
Why did Jesus tell stories like the lost sheep? Why didn't He just say what He meant? Jesus told stories that His listeners would relate to. Shepherds and sheep were part of everyday life in Bible times. They knew how a shepherd would feel as he left the 99 sheep to find the one, and the joy he would feel when the lost one is found.
The people listening to Jesus' story that day were a mix of sinners, tax collectors and religious leaders. The religious leaders muttered, “What is Jesus doing hanging around with these sinners?” Jesus’ story reminded them that God is all about finding the lost. That they should have joy when lost people are found by God.
Discover the story of the lost sheep in today’s verses.
