The Gospel of MarkSample
A rich man wanted eternal life. The man kept the law, but he knew there was something missing. Jesus told him to sell his possessions, give them to the poor, and follow Him. The man could not do it. He had placed his faith in his wealth and possessions.
When His disciples asked about this, Jesus explained why it was difficult for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. Discouraged, the disciples asked, “Who then can be saved?”
It is impossible for anyone to enter the kingdom of God, not only the rich, without God’s intervention. When Jesus said, “all things are possible for God” in Mark 10:27, He meant in the way of salvation. Because of Jesus, salvation is available to all. We do not have to follow a set of rules. All He asks is that we place our faith in Him. Our hearts can only be changed by His power. No heart is too hardened that He cannot change. What great hope we have in Jesus, the One willing to die for our sins and change our hearts so we may have eternal life with Him.
Lord, You alone can change hearts. Change my heart every day to make me more like You. Change the hearts of those close to me who do not know You. I know You can do the impossible. In Your name, amen.

The Gospel of Mark is a powerful account of the life of Jesus. It displays the character of Jesus on every page, from His willingness to suffer and serve to His power and deity miraculously displayed.
