21 Days of Peace

DAY 8 OF 21

WEEK 2: PEACE AS A POSTURE

As we continue to practice cultivating peace within our own hearts, we begin to feel the invitation to extend peace to those around us. Our families and friend groups, our schools and offices, and even our churches are filled with people just like us — hurting people created for and longing for real peace.

But sometimes, choosing to be peacemakers in our key relationships and our spheres of influence takes patience and creativity. Loving each other, with all of our impossible flaws and imperfections, can be hard to do. It often means letting go of a self-righteous notion of “justice,” and instead of treating someone better than you think they deserve, asking for forgiveness, or offering it when we least want to. It means showing up again and again, committed to love and truth. As we draw closer to God, we find we are less concerned with passive “peacekeeping” in our relationships, and far more concerned with being courageous peacemakers. This allows us to make space and time for real, lasting peace between ourselves and those within our reach.

This week, you will be meditating on a passage of scripture found in Romans 14. Read this week’s scripture slowly today, and take notice of what stands out to you.

About this Plan

21 Days of Peace

It’s easy to become overwhelmed by feelings of fear, scarcity, and helplessness. In this 21-day series from World Relief, you’re invited to slow down, meet with God and uncover what it means to practice real peace in your everyday life and be a peacemaker in an often divided world. Each week, you’ll meditate on a single passage of scripture and engage with God through prayer, journaling, and intentional action.
