DAY 3 OF 10

Called in the mess

Remember when earphones had cables and would get tangled so easily in your pockets? It's so annoying! I would always attempt to straighten them out before I used them.

This might upset some people to read but even when they’re jumbled up, even when they’re messy, they still work! Just listen to the music with the cable all knotted up. It fulfils its purpose regardless of the mess they’re in!

I've felt that my messiness has needed fixing before I could be useful to God for much of my life. But what Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 1:26-27 should be a great encouragement to us all! He writes; “God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.”

You prove how great God is, when you aren’t ready! God loves you and has called you, even in your mess. He doesn’t wait for you to get better, because He is the better in you! Too often I think people try to sort themselves out first before doing anything for God.

If you are waiting for the right ability to be ready, you will never do anything God has called you to! He doesn’t want you relying on your own strength anyway, but on His! That's how miracles happen, where greatness occurs, where the world is won.

So if you feel like you’re a bit messy and a little nervous to take that leap of faith, great! You don't need to be confident, because your calling still works in the mess!

Q: What has God called you to? What gifts, skills, passions do you have that might provide insight?

Q: What excuses have you used to rule yourself out of what God might want to do through you?
