Wondered by the Word — The Bible in a Year

DAY 335 OF 365

Abiding in His Shadow

Key Verse: Romans 8:26-27

The life that occupies Christ flows into us when we live in Him. God’s help is available to us right now. In anything we can go to Him, in our weakness, He will make known His strength for us to draw from. When we receive that He is here now, we live in a posture that is positioned in Him. When we find ourselves in a place of uncertainty, fear, or just wanting Him to lead us, we have to pray. It is here that we actively and habitually pursue our Creator, where we are tethered to the only source we need to seek. Maybe today you don't have the words to pray, or perhaps you don't know what to pray for, friend. He is interceding for us; we just have to cry out to Him and call upon the Holy Spirit to give us the words. Lay it all down; the Holy Spirit is alive and rising in you.

His assurance dwells here.

His sustenance is elevated here.

His shelter remains here.

His protection is made known here.

Abiding in His shadow shows us how close He really is. We have a standing invitation to live in Christ, our eternal dwelling place, day in and day out.

God is not confused at all about the pace He is moving. He does not waver in His steadiness, yet so much of the time, we want that mountaintop viewpoint that is just not visible yet at the pace He is going. He is continual so that when our pace breaks, He is still up ahead; we just have to reach out, stretch out, and show up.

He searches our hearts. The Holy Spirit guides our prayers according to His will.

His pace makes way to the viewpoint that He intends to reveal; our endurance and trust gives way to His promise. This is our God, He is steady-paced, both invisible and visible when He needs to be, but we can never miss the truth that He is always there. In that place where we can’t quite see over the peak rests the trust in His promise to you and me. As He sets the pace, we can grab hold of what we have access to, what He already has given us— His overflowing abundance, our place in the Kingdom— it’s already visible. The rest He will proceed to make visible as the waters recede.

Will you receive it over and over again?  Where do you need to depend on Him today? What does His goodness tell you?
