Zechariah and Elizabeth Baby

For Zechariah and Elizabeth, this was a miracle baby. For years they have wanted to have a child and it seems like they had given up hope on having a child. Then, we see in the beginning of Luke, that hope is finally on its way!  Zechariah and Elizabeth are old. Even in modern times like today, this would have been a risk. But through the grace of God, friends and family come around them to celebrate their baby. They named their baby John which means “God is gracious.” 

God is gracious. What a true statement that is. This precious baby would grow up to become who we know as, John the Baptist. The one who spends his life declaring the Good News. The one who calls those to come to Christ, seek repentance and be baptized in His name. The one that would be the messenger and prepare the way for Christ and people for His kingdom.  He is the God who gives good and perfect gifts. He was generous to them, He’ll do the same for you and I. 

Application: Take time today to write down five things the Lord has given to you. Thank Him specifically for each of these gifts and tell Him why they are important to you. Ask the Lord to show you someone you can encourage with what God has given you. We believe that what God has done within you He will also use to bless others!
