Sometimes we might be tempted or are guilty of changing how we act based on who we are with.  It can be hard to be 100% authentic with people for many different reasons.  We may be shy or we may even be afraid of what someone would think about us if we showed them everything about ourselves.  This can make relationships difficult and can have an impact on how we even see ourselves.  The other problem with hiding who we are is the fact that we can sometimes hide our belief in Jesus from others.  This passage reminds us that we are to shine our light  to others.  Jesus wants us to tell others about him.  He wants us to not only say we believe in him but to also show others that we believe in him.  Who have you hidden your faith from?  How can you be brave and shine your light no matter what the situation?

 Challenge: Today we challenge you to be authentic with the people in your life by not hiding your belief in Jesus.  If you have been hiding then be honest about your beliefs.  If you haven’t struggled with this then take some time to pray for the people in your life who have helped you grow in your faith.  Reach out to those people and ask for specific ways you can pray today.
