Live in God's WillSample
Part Three: How Can We Live in God’s Will?
DAY 11: Live in God’s will by being equipped.
In parts one and two of this study, we saw that God’s will for us is to grow in our character by becoming more like Jesus. We also observed that He calls us to be a part of His great work in the lives of those around us. Both of these things can feel daunting if we try to change or take steps of faith in our own strength. Thankfully, this is not what He expects of us.
God promises to equip us with everything we need to live in His will. He equips us with three things: His Word, wise Biblical counsel, and the Holy Spirit. God equips us with His Word so that we know what His will is. God gives us wise counselors to help us discern how to apply God’s will to our lives. He also equips us with the power and presence of His Spirit.
To best equip ourselves to walk in God’s will daily, we must confess our sins to God, surrender to Him any fleshly desires and temptations, and then invite the Holy Spirit to empower us with His strength. This is how we can say no to sin and yes to holiness. God’s will for us is to be Spirit-filled, not sin-filled. This is the power offered to us so that we can continually grow in our sanctification and be effective sent ones.
God’s will for us isn’t to just change on our own. He wants us to rest and depend on His Spirit to equip us with what we need to do His will and become more like Him. His power was enough to raise Jesus from the dead, and that same power is made available to us. Through the Holy Spirit, we can be equipped for anything He asks us to do, and anything we are wrestling with, especially things that are not pleasing to Him.
· How can you better equip yourself to walk in the will of God?
· What do you need to confess or surrender so that you can be Spirit-filled and not sin-filled?
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for not only sending Your Son to die for me so that my sins can be forgiven but for sending Your Holy Spirit into my life so that I can have the power and strength to live my life for Your will. Empower me with Your Spirit today so that I can walk in Your ways. Amen.
