4. WILL I CHO0SE TO FOLLOW JESUS?

THOUGHT

God has already done everything to show us how much He loves us and has opened the way for us to actually experience His love. Through Jesus Christ, He offers us fulfilment and eternal life. We can accept this gift – not through human effort or good deeds – but through faith. We begin by simply talking to God directly in prayer. We can tell Him that we are sorry for having lived without Him. And that we choose to live with Him from now on by trusting Jesus Christ. How will you decide?

EXAMPLE

An unborn set of twins are talking in their mother’s womb. “Do you believe in life after birth?” asks one of the twins. “Yes, definitely!” answers the other. “I don’t,” replies the first. “How is that supposed to look?” “It will certainly be much lighter than here. And perhaps we will actually be running around on our legs and be eating with our mouths.” “What nonsense! That’s what we have umbilical cords for, which is much too short for running around! Life ends with our birth. Nobody has ever come back after birth!” “That’s correct. But I know that we will soon see our mother.” “You believe in a mother? Where is she then?” “Well, here – all around us. We are alive in and through her.” “Rubbish! I have never noticed anything of a mother.” “But it’s true! Sometimes when we are really quiet, you can hear her singing or you can feel when she caresses our world…”

QUESTIONS

What would the consequences be, if you surrendered your life completely to God? What would you answer if Jesus stood in front of you and asked you, “do you choose to live with and for Me?”

PRAYER

Dear God, thank you for loving me and wanting the best for my life. I’m sorry for not living my life with You until now. Thank You for taking away and forgiving everything that stood between You and me. I trust in You and ask You to come into my life. Be my God. Be my Savior and my friend. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me live my life the way You want me to. Amen.
