What have your experiences been like with those in authority?
I’ve noticed that our perception and experience of the divine can often be undermined by the failings we see in the flawed human individuals and institutions that surround us. But it’s essential to recognize the difference.
Our God is a good Father. He never goes back on His Word. And while others might play favorites, judge harshly and amplify hate, He doesn’t.
Don’t let disappointment distort your perspective of the divine today. God loves you, He is with you and He is for you. Be encouraged!
Personal Reflection
Have you struggled with authority in the past? Parents, teachers or bosses? In what ways could they have possibly shaped how you view God? What is one aspect of God’s nature you can focus on today that can redeem a painful experience in your past?
