Overcome Failure and Live With PurposeSample
Can you imagine if I made the following statement? “I love my wife. I don’t enjoy being with her, but I love her. I might go days without talking to her, but I love her. When we do talk, it’s usually because I want to ask her for something, but I love her. When we talk, I find my mind wandering, thinking about other things, but I love her.”
“She isn’t part of my every-day life. I think about her more on Sundays than any other time of the week, but I love her. She writes me love letters. I don’t read them very often; but I love her. I give her a little pocket change every week as long as it doesn’t cut too deeply into what I want to spend on myself, but oh, I love her. I just don’t care to have very much to do with her and make her part of my life, but I love her.”
That does not make any sense, does it? If we want to overcome obstacles and failures, there must be a deep, true love for Christ. How do we show Christ how much we love Him? That love is going to be evidenced by the time we spend with Him and the fellowship and relationship that we have with Him.
Realize this: The Lord who has overcome the world, the Lord who has overcome the greatest obstacle in the universe, sin and death, wants to walk with you and have fellowship with you. He wants to help you over whatever hurdle you might be facing.
That is an amazing, epic thought. If you want to overcome obstacles in your life, love the Lord Jesus Christ. He will meet you where you are. You might say, “I don’t have the deep, committed, unconditional sacrificial love yet, but I want to get there. I’m fond of Christ.”
That’s the place to start. Then you are going to be amazed to see that as you continue that fellowship with the Lord, you can overcome obstacles in your life. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s going to be awesome because you have a Friend that is with you, helping you each step of the way.
