Every Child Deserves a Family: Praying for OrphansSample
While families are best for supporting children’s well-being and development, every situation is different. Sometimes it’s not safe or possible for children to live with their parents. In these cases, alternatives like kinship care, foster care, or adoption can offer children a safe, nurturing, and loving home where children can grow and develop the way they should.
Now that we’ve learned more about the vulnerable children and orphans around the world and their need to be in families, how can you use this experience to make a difference?
Consider how God is moving you. Pray for your response and ask God to pave the way for you to make an impact as you reflect on what you’ve learned, and share it with others. Ask Him to prepare relationships and opportunities for you in advance that will, in turn, result in better care and support for orphans and vulnerable children around the world. Pray for your local church and community and how they can respond to the needs of vulnerable children. And never forget that God loves it when we pray, and He promises to listen, always (Jeremiah 29:12).
PRAY
Dear Lord, Thank you for the privilege of partnering with you to care for vulnerable children and families. Please bless every vulnerable child’s family. I pray for those involved in foster care and adoption. Help children in those homes to feel loved, accepted, safe, and protected. Please help these children to connect and develop close, trusting relationships within their new families.
I also lift up children who are being placed back into their original, biological families. Strengthen these families, Lord, and protect their children. Help caregivers and parents maintain incomes to meet their children’s needs so they can stay together as a family.
Thank you God, for the blessing of allowing me to bring these prayers before you. Help us as Christians to live out a true faith and partnership—in our families and friendships, in our churches, and in our efforts to love and support vulnerable children, families, and communities. Amen.
