THE FULL STORY PART VII: THE PROPHETS. Today we begin the part of the story when the Lord raises up prophets to warn God's people of their wicked ways and their impending judgement (exile). As you begin your journey through the prophets, you will also be reading through the gospel according to Luke. Throughout these readings, notice the longing for the "day of the Lord's favor" and the promise of the anointed one..the "suffering servant.". As you read of this longing and anticipation, may the spirit illuminate to your heart your own longing, and may you find satisfaction in the work and person of our suffering servant, Jesus Christ! Today’s prayer of illumination: Draw me close, Holy Spirit, as the Scriptures are read and the Word is proclaimed. Let the word of faith be on my lips and in my heart, and let all other words slip away. May there be one voice I hear today — the voice of truth and grace. Amen.
