The Nature Of The PropheticSample
Considerate
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. (James 3:17)
The nature of the prophetic is to be considerate and attentive. It is being responsive to and respectful of the Holy Spirit. Prophetic people need boldness to deliver prophetic revelation, but we also need sensitivity. If we aren’t considerate, we can grieve the Holy Spirit with our words, actions, or motivations.
Being considerate is not about watering down the Word of God. God’s Word is Truth. It is the one source of our doctrine and theology. Nor is being considerate about diluting any revelation that the Spirit is bringing. Being considerate means to keep in step with the intention of the Spirit and ensure that our own opinions or interests don’t corrupt the delivery of the prophetic or quench the Spirit of God.
Carrying the nature of God doesn’t squash down the boldness of the prophetic. Godly character qualities provide boundaries so that your enthusiasm doesn’t get carried away to a place outside of Father’s will. If you are using your gifts in a considerate way, you won’t be seen as spooky, weird, or mystical. Spiritual gifts used in alignment with Father’s intention will result in a recognition of God’s sovereignty. You will reflect the nature of God and be seen as an encourager; one who is filled with faith and carrying the goodness of the Lord.

About this Plan
What does it mean to be prophetic? How do we recognise the voice of the Holy Spirit and communicate Him effectively to others? Take time aside to grow in wisdom, develop your spiritual gifts, and learn about the essential qualities you need to live a prophetic life. This 10-day devotional plan is based on James 3:17 from the book, The Nature of the Prophetic, by Sally McCracken.
