Postures Of Advent: A Daily Christmas DevotionalSample
Sometimes we can get stuck in a rut of thinking that worship can only be expressed in very specific ways. But that couldn’t be further from the truth!
Throughout scripture, we are encouraged to express our praise and adoration with our whole being through clashing cymbals together or singing a hymn in buildings and places of worship or out in nature with our mind, our heart, and voice with every breath.
What would it look like for you to find new and creative ways to worship?
To start, try creatively engaging with the story of the three Wise Men today.
It might feel a bit strange to pause what you're doing, interrupt your quiet time of reflection and to engage in worship, but trying something new and different can enrich your devotional time.
Before you exit the app or step away from your device, consider the story of the Wise Men from Matthew 2:9-12 that we've focused on this past week, then think of ways it can lead you into worship.
Whether it's quiet or loud, visible or unseen, private or public, actively focus on the King of Kings!
Ideas to engage the passage:
- Draw a picture
- Write a poem or short reflection
- Choreograph a dance
- Write a short song or sing one that's on your heart
May the Lord be blessed as you engage this story as a creative expression of worship!
About this Plan
How we posture ourselves in the Christmas season makes all the difference in our experience of the miracle of the Advent. Be inspired to surrender to Jesus, refocus on Him, and embrace the grace of our King in this 4-week daily devotional as you move through five different postures: Eyes Fixed, Head Up, Knees Bent, Hands Open, and Arms Wide.
