The Religiosity Rut

Have you ever caught yourself going through the motions? Have you ever found yourself trapped in a trance? Stuck in the same sequence? Living life on religious replay? Sitting in the same still, stagnant faith? I want to introduce to you what I like to call the Religiosity Rut. Maybe you’re here now. Maybe you’re well aware of the feeling. The emptiness. The longing for more. The doubts. The disbelief. The “when will this end?” The “Jesus, where are you?” 

How do we get here? And more importantly, once we are here, how do we get out? 

A religion that’s built on procedures rather than prayer will put you here. A religion that’s built on perfection rather than progress will put you here. A religion that is consumed with this world rather than eternity will put you here. A religion that lacks faith will put you here. A religion that lacks connection will put you here. A religion that fixates on rules rather than the Savior of the world will put you here. 

But Jesus pulls you out of here. Jesus died so you wouldn't have to stay here. Jesus came and flipped the script so you wouldn't have to live here, in the guilt, the tears, the disappointment, the frustration. Jesus rescues us from the religiosity rut. 

Jesus is over religion.
