The Ways of Prosperity

DAY 6 OF 7

God Wants You to Prosper in Your Mindset

Our thoughts and mindsets are important. Proverbs 23:7 tells us that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. The mind of Christ is filled with thoughts that help unlock prosperity. At every opportunity, Jesus brought people out of the old way of thinking into a new, better way. When our minds are transformed, our whole self benefits in tangible ways.

One way we can all grow to imitate the mind of Christ is by changing the way we think about and talk to ourselves. The mind of Christ includes healthy self-compassionate thoughts even in the most difficult circumstances. There has been significant research about how compassionately accepting ourselves and talking encouragingly to ourselves transforms our lives. It can lower our anxiety, stress, and depression; it helps our relationships grow stronger; and it decreases the likelihood of reproducing past mistakes.

There was never a time where Jesus criticized or put Himself down. Even when He was weak after fasting or in the Garden of Gethsemane before His death, He didn't criticize Himself for being weak, in pain, or wanting the “cup to pass.” Instead, He talked with the Father and sought comfort and strength to persevere. God also did not criticize Jesus for having moments of fear or weakness; instead He provided strength and encouragement.

Self-compassion is a mindset that is about humbly accepting the healing compassion of Jesus that transforms us. It is about accepting thoughts that facilitate change instead of stagnation. When we keep our mind on things of the spirit, we trust that He is powerful enough to strengthen and change us. When we try to change ourselves by using harsh self-criticism and judgement, we are trusting in our own mind, our own understanding, and our own works more than we are trusting God.

About this Plan

The Ways of Prosperity

In 3 John 1:2 we see that God wants us to live fully in the prosperity that only comes from knowing and imitating Him. This encompasses 7 areas of life, including our relationships, spirituality, health, and career. When we grow or struggle in one area, we impact the rest. As we focus on prospering in the ways God designed, we get to know more about Him and His heart!
