Lent Journey - 2016Sample
LENT IS FOR TURNING
DAILY PRAYER REQUEST: Lord, help me to turn towards you.
DAILY THOUGHT: LETTING GOD BE GOD
Let us think a little more about repentance. “Repentance” is the translation of the Greek word metanoia. It means rethinking our lives, the complete turnaround of our mind and our outlook, and a new willingness to place God at the centre of our lives. We no longer want to “play God” in our own lives or the lives of those around us. Instead, we turn around from the attitude that says we are in charge of our lives. We confess our arrogance in thinking that we are competent and clever enough to manage our lives on our own. Now we want God to be Lord in our whole lives, in our hearts, in our relationships and in all that we do. In a nutshell: Repentance is letting God be God.
DAILY PRACTICE:
Pray the daily request. Talk over with God the meanings of repentance as described above. What do you find helpful? What would you like to add? What does this all mean for your life right now? After your time of thinking about the word, bring your time to an end by opening your clenched fists and saying to the Lord, “Here are my open hands of repentance and trust. I want to let you be God in all of my life.”

About this Plan
Lent is a time when we prepare ourselves for Easter. Lent Journey consists of 47 devotions to accompany us on this journey. We are invited to the undertake the journey with Jesus and thereby prepare ourselves for the two big events that are the pillars of our belief system - the crucifiction and the resurrection.
