Do you ever feel like you are not a good Christian because your faith is weak?
Do you ever have doubts about if God is real?
Do you ever wonder will God really answer my prayers?
Guess what?
All you need is a tiny, tiny bit of faith.
In Matthew 17:14-21, the disciples of Jesus were doing ministry trying to help heal people. A man and his son came to Jesus and asked for his help because the father said, “I brought him to your disciples and they could not cure him.” After Jesus successfully healed him, the disciples went to Jesus and asked, “Why could we not cast out the demon?”
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly, I tell you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
The size of a mustard seed is 1-2 millimeters
With such a small faith, you can move a mountain!
Because it is not about us, it is about God.
Search inside and see if you can find a little seed of faith in your heart.
Give that to Him.
When I was a new Christian, I joined a Bible study on my college campus. We were studying the Sermon on the Mount from Matthew 5-7. One day, I was walking back to my dorm with another girl from the Bible study. We were talking about the verse in Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.”
I told her, “To be honest, I do not hunger and thirst for righteousness.”
She replied, “Neither do I.”
We decided to pray and say, "God, we are sorry that we are not hungry for You, but we want to be."
It was twenty years ago, but God keeps on giving to me a strong desire, a hunger and thirst, for Him.
There is a story in Mark 9:24 about a man who tells Jesus, “I believe! Help my unbelief!” This man was so honest with Jesus. He admitted that he did have faith and doubts both. But he wanted his faith to grow.
Let us copy that man’s prayer and say it to Jesus.
Jesus,
I have a tiny bit of faith. Thank you for understanding. You will still use my prayers to move mountains!
I have a lot of doubts. Will you please help my faith grow?
In Jesus' name. Amen.
