Rest for the WearySample
A Word for Your Season
My favorite part of this passage on rest is found in verse 30.
"For my yoke is easy."
The yoke Jesus is talking about here isn't the same reference to yoke in verse 28. This easy yoke is His teaching. What he's communicating is that his teaching will hold you together.
When you stay in God's Word, it will aid you in laying down yourself. And the incredible thing is, His teaching is easy. That word "easy" means well-fitting; it's just what you need.
The theologian Warren Wiersbe wrote, "He has just the yoke that is tailor-made for our lives and needs."
Friend, God has in His Word what you need! Think about that. Jesus has custom made an easy yolk just for you, tailor-made for your weariness and exhaustion. It's easy and it's gracious.
God's Word fits you!
Whatever burden you carry today, know that God has in His Word exactly what you need for this season. Open up your Bible and ask Him to speak to your weary heart.
I pray that this reading plan has been beneficial and encouraging to you. Remember: surrender to Him in full obedience, humble yourself, and turn to His teaching for sustenance. Here you will find the rest and care you so desire.
