Habakkuk – The Man Who Asked QuestionsSample
Day 5: You Can Trust God
Almost 700 years after Habakkuk lived, God’s people were going through a difficult time once again. It was after Jesus, God’s Son, had come to earth, died on the cross for all our sins, and had risen from the dead as our Savior!
Many people were trying to live a holy and righteous life for God, but there were others around them who had turned from God and were living wickedly. Their wickedness was once again bringing punishment on all of God’s people.
In the midst of this, James, the brother of Jesus, told God’s people it was okay to ask God questions! He told them, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God.”
James told them that God would answer their questions and help them understand. He told them it was important to ask in faith, believing. “When you ask, you must believe God and not doubt.”
During that same difficult time, the writer of the book of Hebrews encouraged God’s people to persevere and believe. He reminded them of what God had said to Habakkuk during hard times. “He who is coming will come and will not delay. But My righteous one will live by faith.”
When times are hard, you can believe that the end of all things will be good for those who love God and believe. Have faith, trust God and pray.
Then you can sing Habakkuk’s song, “I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
Let’s pray: Dear God, help me to always pray and always believe in your goodness. I will sing and praise you even when times are tough. I will rejoice in you! In Jesus name, amen.
