Navigating TransitionSample
Disorientation: What is my body telling me?
Lord, thank You for my body. Help me to listen to what it is telling me.
God created us as emotional beings – ones who are able to acknowledge what we are feeling. Many of us, though, were taught to repress emotions, especially those deemed ‘negative’, in order to fit in and be accepted. Those emotions don’t go away – unresolved emotions get trapped in our bodies, often leading to physical pain and illness. Learn to name your feelings, without judgement. It can be helpful to mentally scan your body, and notice which part of your body may be holding that feeling. It may register as tightness in your chest, clenched fists, an inability to sit still, or in other ways. What might God be wanting to bring to your attention through your body?
