Back-To-School : God’s Got This!

DAY 1 OF 3

David’s story helps you see that because of your faith in God, you are not an underdog. Even if you feel your faith is weak, you are not an underdog. You are a victor! When you have faith in God, there is no giant in your life He will not help you conquer. It may take time. It may take grit. It will happen. Keep your eyes on God, not the giant! Remember, God’s got this!

David is a good example. Do you remember how King Saul responded when David volunteered to conquer Goliath? Saul replied, "You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth." (1 Samuel 17:33 NIV)

Saul was essentially saying, “Are you crazy? You are the underdog!”

Saul wasn’t being snarky. He had a point. David was a mere boy, perhaps 90 pounds soaking wet. He had no military training and no military experience. Goliath, on the other hand, was tall. Very tall. Depending on the scholar you consult, he was between 7-9 feet tall. On top of that, Goliath was wearing 125 pounds of armor and carrying a 15-pound spear. Terrifying!

Yet David said, “No, I am not crazy! I’m not the underdog. I believe in God. I also have first- hand experience with giants. When I was a boy God delivered me from lions and bears and wolves that wanted to rip my sheep apart. I believe God’s got this one too!”

For David it was not mind over matter. It was God against giants.

This is such an important lesson. When faced with a giant, David’s eyes were on God, not the giant. David went into the fight thinking, God’s got this one.

Consider what would happen if you went into battle against your giants with that kind of faith?

Remember, God’s got this.
