Covenant Keeping God

DAY 2 OF 12

God Of The Family

Jacob was a mild man and had always lived among the tents. He was not an outdoor man like his brother Esau. He was on this long arduous journey, where his thoughts went back repeatedly to his family, whom he was not sure, if he would see again. Jacob was now seeking his larger family. It is in this background that he meets his uncle’s daughter, Rachel and Jacob is overwhelmed. It was not only love at first sight but a response of a man starved of love for family. This love of the family motivated Jacob so powerfully that he was able to move the stone from the mouth of the well, singlehandedly, which needed many to do.

Family relationships are precious and we can never take family ties for granted. These ties need to be guarded and nurtured. The family is the hub of the local church and for the Kingdom of God. Satan will do everything to disrupt family ties. We live in times, when we are compelled to work at odd hours and sometimes husbands and wives make choices to live in different places for the sake of meeting financial or other needs of the family. Before families make such choices it is crucial for them to spend time in prayer, seeking God’s will. There too many families that have grown apart since they did not give priority to nurture their family before God.

Will you decide today to seek God’s direction for all choices related to your family?

Lord, me and my house, we love you.
