Content in ChristSample
WHAT IS CONTENTMENT?
The definition of contentment is a state of happiness and satisfaction. Most people would agree that they want to be content. We are happy and satisfied when we like our circumstances. But what do we do when we find ourselves in circumstances we do not like? Where do we set our minds to be content? What about the things that we cannot control?
1. What do you do when you are in circumstances that you do not like:
Draw near to God and experience the life that God wants for you. Be devoted to God. You cannot have one foot in the Word and one foot in the world. One devotion to God will bring you satisfaction. Get in the Word!
"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded." James 4:8
2. Where do you set your mind to gain a new mindset of happiness?
We have a choice about where we set our mind. If we change our mindset to focus on our God who is greater than any problem instead of our focusing on our problems, we will find life and peace. Life in the Spirit brings contentment. Live your life in power of the Holy Spirit!
"For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace." Romans 8:6
3. What do you do about things you cannot control?
Cast your cares upon the Lord who cares for you. He will take your burdens and turn them into opportunities for growth and knowledge. He will help you as you let go and surrender all control over to Him. You will find happiness and security when you let God have His way in you. He will fight your battles when you let go of your burdens!
"Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7
Dear Lord,
Thank You for helping me know what it means to be happy and satisfied as I draw near to You. I will set my mind on the Spirit to find life and peace. I will let go of things that I cannot control and cast all of my cares upon You. I believe that You care for me. I am content when my focus is on You and not my circumstances. It is well with my soul!
In Jesus' name,
Amen
