Stop Dying And Start Living

DAY 3 OF 3

Life Is A Journey

The third thing to remember if we want to stop dying and start living is that life is a journey, not a destination. We need to enjoy it.

There is a story about a man called Earl P. Haney. He lost it all in the 1920s. He was so worried that he developed ulcers that were eating the lining in his stomach. He became so sick the specialists said he was incurable. One day, he said to himself that he had nothing to look forward to except for death, so he thought he would make the most out of the time he had left. He told his doctors he was going to travel the world; they replied that if he did so, he was going to die. He made all the arrangements to travel on a steamship, had his casket on the ship, and made arrangements that should he die, he would be buried in his home state of Nebraska. He boarded the SS President Adams in Los Angeles en route toward China. Almost immediately he started feeling better, eating, and enjoying himself more than he had in years. He returned to perfect health. He stopped dying and started living. What was the worst that could happen to him? He would die. Once he accepted the worst, he realized that when you have nothing more to lose, you have EVERYTHING TO GAIN!

Second Kings 7 tells the story of four lepers sitting outside the city of Samaria which was under siege. People were dying inside and outside the city, and they began to think that they were going to die no matter what they did. So they accepted the worst, got up, and started to walk towards the enemy camp with plans to surrender so they might live. On the way, they discovered that the enemy was gone. All it took for them to live was to accept the worst, let go of fear, get up and start walking, start living.

When we accept the worst, we have nothing left to lose at that moment, except for the fear and worry that has been destroying us. Fear and worry try to dominate and stop us. When we accept that we have nothing else to lose, it means that we have everything to gain. We begin to fill our lives with a positive future We begin to live for today and enjoy life.

God says in His Word that His mercies are new every morning. Every day, when you wake up, remember that God can bring miracles. He can bring surprises. He can show up today and do things that never happened before. Wake up each day thinking that today is a fantastic day. Throw fear and worry away. Go out and live—do not hide! Go out and do what you always wanted to do. What is in your heart? What is your vision? What do you see in your tomorrow? Go out and do it! And when you do, you are going to stop dying and start living.

Day 2

About this Plan

Stop Dying And Start Living

Many people go through life thinking they are living when by the way they live, it seems more like they are dying. To them, life is nothing more than existing and getting by day after day. Jesus says in the Scriptures that He is Life. When we have His life in us, we have abundant life—exciting, enthusiastic life. Once we realize that, we stop dying and start really living.
