Get to the Heart
The heart is an amazing organ, isn’t it? It’s really command central, for without its function, we are in trouble. It’s responsible for pumping 1.5 gallons of blood through our bodies every minute, enabling us to live and move and have our being on this earth. But there’s more to the heart than just scientific facts.
Our hearts are the secret place of our soul, where our emotions and memories collide. Our hearts house our fears, desires, longings, dreams. Our hearts sequester our wounds, fester our bitterness, and fuel our passions.
Even though we perceive our brain to be the place of reason, logic, and decision-making, the Scriptures often talk about the role the heart plays. Maybe this is why we’re called to guard our hearts so carefully. We need to consider what goes in, what we keep locked up inside, and what comes out, because as command central, it impacts every aspect of our lives.
While we might like to deceive ourselves when it comes to what’s going on inside our hearts, the Lord promises us that he sees clearly. So what would it look like to lay your heart bare before God? Imagine how awesome it will feel to get all that junk out and live with a light, unburdened heart as God carries for you all that you can truly not handle.
Trap and Transform
1. If you and God chatted about what was going on in your heart today, what would He have to say?
2. What’s stored up in your heart that you’d really like to unload once and for all?
3. What would you like God to fill your heart with? Joy, peace, patience, hope, courage?

About this Plan
When we look to the Word of God as our baseline for how to live, we’ll discover where our thinking needs to change to conform to God’s best for us. That’s exactly what this 21-day journey is all about.
