YEET: Things to ThrowSample
How often do you feel anxiety? It creeps up on you, and before you know it, you are obsessing over something you can’t control. Lucky for us, the Bible has a lot to say about anxiety! In Matthew 6:34 (ESV) Jesus tells us, “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.”
God cares for us in our anxiety, we are told in 1st Peter 5:7 to cast “all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” God loves us, no matter our affliction! That’s why he sent Jesus to die for us on the cross, because he loves us more than anything! Isn’t that exciting? God loves you, and he gladly takes your anxiety if you ask him. Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV) says “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” So how do we “yeet” our cares to God? We pray! Tell God your anxieties, and he will listen!
Paul is an excellent example here. When he was in prison, bound in chains and facing death, he relied on God for his strength. He “yote” his cares to the one who loved him most of all. And did you know Jesus felt anxiety too? In Mark 14:36 (ESV) Jesus prayed, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” Jesus had anxiety about death on a cross, yet he gave his anxiety over to his Father, and still chose to die for us!
God loves you so much, he wants you to tell him your cares. Romans 8:38-39 tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God! This means your anxiety doesn’t change His love for you, so why not yeet your cares?
Ask yourself: What bothers me? What kind of cares do I need to yeet to bring myself closer to God?
Let’s pray: God, I know you love me, and I thank you for sending your son to die for me on the cross, so that nothing could separate me from your love. Please help me to yeet my cares to you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
