It’s a Good Life

Talk about a good life! Can I brag on my sweetheart just a little? When the Bible says, “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD” (Proverbs 18:22 NIV), I say, “Amen!” When I found Shellye, I found the best. I can’t say enough about her. She’s beautiful inside and out. She’s my queen, and everything a best friend should be. She’s genuine and gentle. She’s trustworthy and tenderhearted. She speaks life to me and our girls—not just what we want to hear, but what we need, when we need it.

Shellye is so good to me, and anyone who knows her can testify that she is a blue-ribbon mom. I marvel at all she does and at how blessed our home is because of her. And what an example she is to our girls. They love the Lord, just like their momma does!

Only God could have brought Shellye and me together. I’m so glad He did, and so thankful for every day we have together. I get a little sad too, because time is going so fast. We’ve gone from cribs to kindergarten to cheerleading and adolescence in no time flat. Already, our babies are young ladies! Before we know it, we’ll be watching their baby girls grow up.

Life isn’t perfect. Shellye and I have had some challenges and heartbreaks, but life is good, and it goes fast. I’m no expert, but I can tell you this much: Take time to breathe in the goodness God has given you. Relish the sweet moments you have with the ones you love. There is no “perfect” life, but it’s a good life—really good.
