Key Beliefs: Supporting Basic BeliefsSample

Baptism
This chapter gives examples of some baptisms in the early life of the church. Philip is the one reaching people for Jesus and then baptizing them. He is following Jesus’ command from Matthew 28: 19 which says, “go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” The people are baptized shortly after trusting Jesus so there is no requirement to have lived a consistent godly lifestyle. They only needed to decide to rely on Jesus for the forgiveness of sin.
If you are waiting for the right time to be baptized, the only question is, “Have you trusted Jesus?”
