There's Hope For TodaySample
“Aw, Moses! You let them get to you. You let decades of frustration overwhelm your senses. You should have taken time to get ahold of yourself. You should have simply obeyed and spoken to the rock. You should have let God be God, but you had to make a theatrical scene … you had to make a little speech … you had to whack the rock twice … you just had to work a few things out. Aw, Moses! The 40-year sentence was just about up and you were about to be released to enter the Promised Land. The Exodus was almost over. The wilderness would soon be forgotten. You could finally rest and let the younger generation sort it out, but you blew it! In the habit of speaking for God, it seems that you thought you held His power in your hand – or that the rod was subject to your will or anger. You put on quite a show. You had everyone’s attention. When the water came out of the rock, you looked every bit the leader – the angry prophet – the disgusted oracle. You forgot the days when you and Aaron interceded for the people – forgot standing in the gap – forgot that God is, by His very nature, gracious. Aw, Moses! You make it abundantly clear that a careless man will always reach for a place too far.”
