There's Hope For TodaySample
I’m miles from home on a Sunday morning. Two time zones have me sipping coffee while my church is about to begin the first service.
I suddenly want to be there. I worry about everything from staffing to starting on time. When I take the pulpit here, my congregation will be enjoying a Sunday afternoon. It’s a strange feeling, as though life slipped out of sync and I’m out of place.
I’ll bet you’ve felt this way ... out of sync? Maybe you feel that way today. Your job description was rewritten and you’ve become a stranger at your own desk. Your last child left for college and the house has lost that “homey” feeling. Your husband made you a divorcee and you can’t let go of the married life you loved. Your mother left the rest home for heaven and suddenly you don’t feel so at home here on earth. What do you do when life slips out of gear? Get closer to the Changeless One.
When life seems out of sync, when miles from home and surrounded by strangers, a minute prayer, a psalm of thanks, a whispered petition, and life begins to work again. Surely, one of the great treasures of the Bible is the word “always!”
