HIS EYES ARE UPON YOU

Have you heard the phrase: ‘the Eyes are the window to the soul’? 

This phrase suggests that, as we communicate with others, our eyes reveal a lot of non-verbal information, (perhaps at times more than we intend!).

They show the truth, no matter what face we put on to the world, in any situation. Our gaze communicates our emotions, our character, who we are. For example, just one look from my husband and I can tell if it’s time to leave a party, and pinpoint exactly what mood he is in from simply the look in his eyes. Studies have even shown that by 12 months of age, babies look at the eyes, not the head, to determine gaze direction. 

Scripture says that God beholds you as the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8 AMP). That His face is turned towards you. God’s face is directed toward you! His attention is focused on you! Like the sun, God’s gaze gives light and warmth and life. The Psalmist says, ‘Let the light of your presence shine on us, O LORD’ (Psalm 4:6 – GWT). Not only does God – the creator of heaven and earth – graciously give you everything by turning His face toward you and gazing His attention at you; He also invites you to come, stand in His presence and gaze right back at Him.
