The Impacts Of God’s Blessings Sample
God Reveals His Blessings!
by Rev. Patrick Feldhus
It was a no brainer! Follow God’s commands and Israel would receive God’s blessings. Do not follow His commands and receive God’s curse. Which of these two choices do you think Israel took? You are correct!
They promised to follow God’s commands, decrees, and laws. Who in their right mind would choose curses over blessings?
However, we know how the story with Israel goes. They did not remain faithful to their God’s commands, decrees, and laws. God sent them warning after warning through the prophets, but Israel refused to listen. They were destroyed because of it. They deserved to lose the blessings that God wanted to shower on them.
God has given us a reason to follow His law. He wants to shower blessings upon us. It would seem easy for us to follow His commands, decrees, and laws, but Israel’s history is human history. We see ourselves in Israel.
Even though we know God wants to bless us, we, like Israel, have not followed God’s commands, decrees, and laws perfectly like He wants. We have shown contempt for His laws by changing them to fit what we want. Like Israel, we all deserve curses from our God.
What does God reveal to us? Blessings! That’s how our God rolls. He reveals to the ones who deserve His curse that He has set them free through his Holy and Perfect Son. Jesus became our curse on the cross and took the punishment we deserved.
Jesus gives us His perfect record so that God would only bless us! God reveals this amazing grace to us through His word. There is no comparison to this spectacular blessing which Jesus earned for us. This blessing brings righteousness, forgiveness, and eternal life.
How can we show our appreciation to God for this blessing? Love the Lord, your God, and walk in obedience to Him, and keep his commands, decrees, and laws not because you have to but because you want to!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for revealing your Son as our greatest blessing! Help us show our appreciation to you by listening to your word and following your commands. When we fall into sin, forgive us and set our hearts at rest! In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

About this Plan
Through several Bible verses and lessons, we read that God wants to bless us. With Jesus as our greatest treasure, we can be content and see all the earthly treasures as they truly are…blessings from our Father. This 5-day devotion series, shared by The Lutheran Home Association’s chaplains, each take a different approach to study the blessings God provided us.
