Teach Us To Pray: A 21-Day Prayer Reading Plan

DAY 20 OF 21

Pray For Your Finances

If you grew up in church, there’s a good chance you heard one of two approaches to money — either that money is evil or that money is a blessing for those who believe enough. The truth is that neither presents a full, biblical view of money.

God is the owner of everything, and He distributes wealth according to His wisdom and grace. He doesn’t say that money itself is evil, but that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.

God is not a genie. He doesn’t promise to fulfill every material dream, but He does promise to give us what we need. He tells us to manage what we have well, to ask Him for what we need, and to trust Him to provide.

Praise
  • How have you seen God provide for you? What can you thank Him for today?
  • How have others been generous toward you? Who can you thank God for today?
Repentance
  • When it comes to your finances, where are you prone to worry or striving?
  • Do you struggle to be generous or to share?
  • 1 Timothy 6:17 says God richly provides us with everything. Is there anything you’ve been taking for granted or feeling like you earned?
Ask
  • God created everything and owns everything, which means He can provide anything we need. What to do you want to ask your heavenly Father for today? Go ahead, ask Him.
Yield
  • Where do you need God to speak into your finances? Is there a decision you’ve been putting off or an offering you’re considering giving? Sit for a few minutes and wait for God to speak into your financial future.
