When People Pray: Unlocking a Passionate Prayer LifeSample
Key One: Pursue God Daily
The secret to sustaining your love for Christ for a lifetime is to pursue Him daily. The key is to discipline yourself.
Jesus set such an incredible example for us while He was here on earth. He regularly went away to a quiet place to spend time with the Father in focused solitude, and so should we.
Luke 4:42 says, “Early the next morning Jesus went out to an isolated place.”
What time of day do you consistently spend with God?
Consider how Henri Nouwen said it, “The practice of a spiritual discipline makes us more sensitive to the small, gentle voice of God.”
Set a goal: Pursue God Daily.
KEY 2: Pray an Hour a Day
We know that when Jesus went to Gethsemane in Matthew 26 that he not only encouraged the disciples to pray with Him, as His hour came near but to pray specifically for an hour.
What if we made it a goal to spend an hour with God daily in prayer, worship, Bible study, and mediation, - not out of religious duty, but out of delight.
Whatever that is for you, find a rhythm and make it consistent.
Could you stop right now and schedule your hour of prayer?
Consider how that hour would grow your spiritual walk.
You don’t have to start off at an hour. Give yourself permission to grow into it and beyond.
Set a goal: Pray for an Hour a Day.
