This Is the Good Life: A 9-Day DevotionalSample
CONCLUSION: Be Transformed to Be Happy
The more we spend time reflecting on the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1–12, the more we wallpaper our minds with his thoughts and ways, and by faith his thoughts and his ways become ours. This is the good life.
The apostle Paul said, “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God” (Rom. 12:2).
You want to be happy. I want to be happy. I hope you see that God wants us to be happy too. But the Jesus-kind-of-happiness is vastly different from our culture’s thin version of happiness.
Jesus’ happiness is rooted in our participating and sharing in his life and his kingdom. The happiness that Jesus offers is found in being transformed into a kingdom-of-God-kind-of-person. As we get nearer to the King’s heart, we begin to dance to the rhythm of his grace and his character rubs off on us, and we begin to image forth his glory into the world.
This is the good life.
