The Hope Quotient

DAY 14 OF 60

Military buffs know that one of the biggest factors in any war is always the supply lines to fuel and feed the troops. Staying spiritually and emotionally fueled requires developing supply lines. Progress stops when our supply lines are cut. Here are three:

First, it’s important to withdraw and recharge. Even Jesus Christ, the Son of God, took time to recharge His batteries. Often we read, “Jesus withdrew…” or “Jesus “prayed…” To say, “I don’t have time!” is another way of saying, “I prefer to be drained and hopeless.” Even the busiest men and women, if they want to be full of hope, find a way that works for them.

Second, it’s important to worship. Worship is so powerful that every seven days, God says, “Here’s a prescription: take a day off and do this.” Worship takes you to heights where worry, anxiety, stress, and fear wither away and cease to gnaw at your life. Worship gets my attention off myself and refocuses me on God.

Authentic worship…

·  renews your strength.

·  reconnects you with God.

·  restores your perspective.

·  rekindles your hope.

·  rebuilds your confidence.

·  restores your joy.

·  releases your anxieties.

Three, the Bible is our most powerful catalyst for change. Why? Because all great life change starts when I change the way I think. You get inner strength by unleashing the Bible into your life. If you lack inner strength, you will also lack hope. Here’s the principle: inner strength is essential when you’re under pressure.

Hope never pours out of the lives of empty, depleted people. Inner strength can outlast anything.

Think Up:

Getting away, worshiping God, and reading the Bible are supply lines to fill you with hope.

If you already do all three, what else can you do? (Read on).
