DAY 3 OF 42

The Lord Calls Samuel

Questions to consider:

  1. What does this passage teach you about God?
  2. What does this teach you about humanity and the world?
  3. Samuel is called by God three times but is not able to recognize his voice. God is calling you daily; do you recognize Him? If not, what do you think keeps you from recognizing Him?
  4. Eli’s response to the terrible message is, “It is the Lord. Let him do what seems good to him.” How do you think you would have responded? Why?

Let’s Pray:

Father God, I know you are always speaking to me, but I confess, I don’t always hear you. Help me to hear your voice better and listen to what it’s telling me.

About this Plan

1 Samuel

Picture this: a nation chosen by God; a prophet from an unlikely background to help show God’s ways to His people; a king whose fear and unfaithfulness bring disaster; and a man after God’s own heart who changed the nation of Israel forever. This is a story of God’s reign and rule, Israel’s choices and consequences, and two men’s different responses to God.
