Faith Over Fear
Deuteronomy 1:21
Do not fear or be discouraged.
Moses reminded the Israelites of the day when they did not listen to God due to their fear. Twelve spies were sent to observe Canaan before the Israelites entered the land. When the spies came back with some news that the people who lived there were so big, the Israelites were very scared and refused to enter the land. Because of their fear and unbelief, it took so long for them to reach the promised land, while in fact, they were already very close to it.
Fear is a normal feeling people have when facing danger. There are many reasons that cause people to have fear. One of the most common reasons is that they are unsure about what they will face ahead of them. Fear will prevent people from enjoying God’s best blessing. Fear might delay the fulfillment of God’s promises in our lives.
The only antidote to overcome fear is to have faith in God. When you know there is someone whom you can wholeheartedly trust and who never fails you, it gives you assurance. You do not have to dwell in your fear anymore. Just surrender your fear to God and remember His promises that He will always be with you. Have faith in Him.
Prayer
Dear God, sometimes I feel afraid. But I know You can help me and You will always help me. I don’t want to dwell in my fear because I have You, Jesus, who is always by my side. Amen.
