Word Study:
The word “God” in the Bible is actually in the plural form. Why does it not use the singular form ofאֱלוֹהַּ (eloha), orהָאֵל(hael)? After all, the verb that goes with this noun, - ברא(bara),is in the singular form. (Note that in English, the word God is always in the singular and doesn't have a plural form when used to refer to the monotheistic God of the Bible.)
The use of the plural form indicates the respect, reverence, and importance the Bible has for God. In other cases, importance is shown by repetition. For example, consider the phrase קָדוֹשׁ, קָדוֹשׁ, קָדוֹשׁ (kadosh, kadosh, kadosh) - “Holy, Holy, Holy.” In Hebrew, when a word is repeated three times it means the most it can be. When we read “Holy, Holy, Holy,” the repetition shows “Holy above everything else.”
Here's another interesting note about the word אֱלֹהִים(Elohim). There are some commentators who divide the word into two parts: אֵל(el) God; and הַיָּם(hayam) the sea. According to this interpretation, the name means “the God of the waters that flow to the sea.” These waters start from a high point and arrive at all sorts of places, bringing life with them. These waters flow to the sea and bring life to the fish and all things living in the sea, as well as to all other creatures in the world. The ocean is a place that is in harmony with nature and with every other part of the world.
If we continue along the lines of this interpretation, God gives power to all layers of life, nature, and the inanimate. He starts with the tops of the mountains and reaches all the way to the depths of the seas. Along the way, every element of creation benefits from the blessing of these waters, which continue to cycle from the depths of the seas back to the tops of the mountains over and over again. Without this process, there could be no life in our world. This is a unique balance within creation, which is in fact itself an element of creation.
Reflection on the cycle of life:
We have learned and internalized the cycle of life. Take this cycle of life as an example of how you should live your life. What appears to sometimes be the low point or bottom may in fact be part of a journey that will take you up high. All you need to do is to believe and have faith in the Almighty and also believe in yourself. If you do this, your life will be clearer, more upright, and more complete.
