"Who is Jesus? He is the Baptiser in the Holy Spirit"
There is a key difference between the ministry of John the Baptist and of Jesus. While John baptised in water, Jesus baptises in the Holy Spirit. John’s baptism in water was for repentance for sins. Jesus baptising his followers in the Holy Spirit was for salvation, transformation and empowerment. And this is what happened on the day of Pentecost when Jesus’ disciples where baptised in the Holy Spirit. 3000 people came to faith in Jesus from Peter’s sermon on that day – what a change in Peter – from a man who denied Jesus frightened by a servant girl to a man standing before thousands proclaiming that Jesus is the Messiah. Peter through the Holy spirt was an empowered and transformed man. So also today, when we are filled with the Holy Spirit, that same power is in us and that same presence transforms us to become all that God has called us to be.
Lord Jesus, thank you that even today, you are the baptiser in the Holy Spirit. Even as we meditate on your word, fill us with the Holy Spirt. We want to continue to be transformed and empowered by the Holy Spirit so that we become who you want us to be and move in power as we serve you. In Jesus’ name.
