The Revelation of Jesus Christ 1Sample
Open the Door of Your Heart
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to Him and eat with him, and he with Me.
This is an amazing thing. Jesus had just rebuked the Laodicean church with blistering language. They were a proud, self-reliant church, and Jesus let them have it. But He loved them. He did not write them off and forget them, by no means! In fact, He gives them a vivid picture: “I stand at the door of your church. I’m knocking. I want to come in and have fellowship with you, dine with you, be with you. I long to be close to you. But I won’t knock the door down. You open it. Open it with a heart of brokenness, a heart of repentance, a heart of humble dependence.”
Jesus longs for us too. Even when we mess up, He yearns for us. He doesn’t cast us away. He longs to be close with us again, if only we will respond with brokenness and repentance. The ball is in your court. Jesus is right there. He died for you and rose from the dead. He longs to save you. He is your only hope. Will you respond with repentance and trust? Will you say yes to Jesus? Perhaps you hear the knocking even now.
