Finding Rest for My SoulSample
Surrendering to a Renewed Mind
Figuratively, the Lord wants us to walk beside quiet,life-giving waters to restore our souls. He wants to refresh our weary hearts, but we must intentionally take this time to renew our minds. The Holy Spirit can do great healing work in our minds! It is 100% a work of the Holy Spirit to bring renewal, but it is 100% me to yield to this greater work. Sadly, sometimes I think the Lord “makes me lie down in green pastures” to that He can leads me beside still waters. I rarely grab this concept on my own. I am learning to re-frame times where I am forced to stop my plans for His greater work. I now choose to yield my days to His “divine interruptions” as a way to live surrendered to my all-important schedule and plans. This is a constant reminder to let Him renew my mind to His eternal purposes versus to my temporal daily calendar plans. Learn to choose to be still so that He can renew your mind.
Renewing my mind is a gateway to renewing my peace of mind. Lasting peace can only come from being tethered to WHO God is and not to other people or circumstances. My peace lies in Him and not in things of this world. So, once again, I need to consider the “trash in / trash out” choices that I make each day. Do I listen to too much negativity whether on the news or from my “Negative Nellie” of a friend? Do I watch life-giving shows or trashy shows? Do I listen to the lies of the enemy or meditate on the Voice of my true identity? Am I who God says I am? Who am I going to believe?
I want to surrender to a renewed mind daily so that I can live in His good, pleasing and perfect will. A mind resting in the peace of His purposes and His greater plans. How about you?
Ponder:
How often do you intentionally rest for the restoration of your soul and your vision to live in a story that is greater than your own?
Prayer:
Lord, I need a renew mind set on eternal truths and Your eternal purposes in each day I live. Help me not be so ME centered but live in the identity and purpose for which you have called me.
About this Plan
In a day of unprecedented uncertainty, where can we find rest for our souls? Is this even an option? Or are we relegated to struggle on the performance treadmill where we are infused with anxiety and exhaustion?
