Life on Mission Sample
Embrace a Life on Mission
In the book of Luke, Jesus says that the Messiah will die and rise again, and after that, the forgiveness of sins will be preached everywhere. You, follower of Christ and child of God, are called to preach His name.
The first statement about missions that I want to share with you is that life on mission is to be embraced, not feared. Do not be afraid that God is going to send you somewhere you do not want to go. There is this idea that being a missionary means going to Africa. I have actually been to Africa, and let me tell you, it’s better than a lot of cities I have visited in the United States of America. God sending you to Africa is wonderful. Are you afraid that God is going to wreck your life? Surrendering to God is the blessing of all blessings of your life. God will do amazing things in your life if you simply trust and surrender to Him.
Many of us like to keep God at arm’s length, not just because of foreign missions, but because we are afraid of what God will do with our lives. You may wonder what His requirements will be. You are afraid of what He will ask of you. Stop living in the fear of your Heavenly Father who loves you more than you even love yourself. God loves you so much. Embrace living on mission. End all the fear that God will send you far away to live a poor life in a thatched hut. If God calls you to a thatched hut, you will have more joy in your life than in a mansion. God will do His work through you and it will bless your life. God will use you in a great way.
Here is what happens in our life: There’s a tug. It’s like a tug-of-war, in our lives, of faith and fear. Do you feel that in your life? I feel it, with the little flag in the center of the rope. It goes over to the fear side and we say, “Oh no, oh no!” And then it will come back over to the faith side and we say, “Oh yeah, God can do it. God will do it!” We want faith to win over fear. We want to walk in faith, not of fear. A follower of Christ lives a life of faith. Sure, we get scared and experience anxiety. Life is not always great. Life comes with challenges. Nevertheless, you can trust God. He’s got you.
Haven’t we all spent enough time being afraid?

About this Plan
Did you know that as followers of Christ, our hearts should love the nations? Jesus desires that we love missions as He does. As believers in Christ, we were created to spread the good news and through the Holy Spirit we are able to do so. In this plan, Pastor Gregg Matte gives three statements that will help you understand more about how we can live a life on mission.
