Graves Into Gardens: Restoring Hope in Dead Places

DAY 6 OF 8

THERE IS A KING

Every burden will be lifted in His presence

Every trophy will be laid down at His feet

There is a name that reigns above all others

Jesus Christ the King above all Kings

As a society, we look for people we can hold in high esteem. We strive to emulate people who are “winning at life” or never seem to allow their setbacks to stop them from achieving their goals.

We’re inspired by the rags-to-riches stories and the melodramas that seem to permeate our lives.

The problem is, they’re people. We’re looking to imperfect human beings to help us carry our burdens — and in the end, they will always disappoint.

Even earthly kings, people of stature and wealth, needed to rely on a higher power to be successful during their reign.

When King Saul was chosen by God to rule over Israel, he started disobeying His commands, praising himself for each victory, and God revoked the anointing He had placed on him. King David, the man God considered to be after His own heart, recognized early on that He deserved the glory at all times, whether good or bad.

During his reign, King David gathered gifts for the building of God’s temple. And in front of his assembly of commanders, officials, and leaders he honored Him saying:

“Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.” (1 Chronicles 29:11-13)

Whether privately or publicly, David consistently acknowledged God’s sovereignty. He understood that there is only one name worthy of constant praise, adoration, and respect — that is the name of our King Jesus.

His name is the one you can turn to for rest, rely on for comfort, and trust will never change. He is all powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present.

Let Him carry your burdens. Praise Him for your victories. And give Him thanks for all that He has done and will do in your life.

About this Plan

Graves Into Gardens: Restoring Hope in Dead Places

The enemy wants you to think that it’s over –– that your disappointments, failures, and struggles will bury you. But God’s not finished with you yet. He can turn disappointment into hope, failure into faith, and struggle into victory. He’s a God who turns graves into gardens –– and He wants to do it for you.
