Audacious - The Man Who Claimed to Be GodSample
I AM THE DOOR
In John 10:7-9, Jesus proclaims that He is the door of the sheep-fold, he is the door through which we are offered eternal life. Like a door that separates two rooms or spaces, Jesus is the door separating the world from our home. A home that offers protection, relationship and hospitality. When Jesus is saying I am the door of the sheep-fold, He is reiterating the ‘enclosure’ that He has provided in order to save and protect us, His sheep.
This door allows us to be both qualified and called. It is the means by which we can enter His presence and have communion with Him. It is through this door that we are sanctified and justified, we are forgiven and blessed. Through this door, we can experience peace and joy, comfort and victory! Through this door, he gives us the right to become children of God.
We can so easily fall into the trap of thinking that if we do enough ‘right’ things then we will have a right relationship with God. But scripture teaches us that there isn’t a right way or a right door to walk through to get to God. Instead, God’s Word promises us that whosoever believes in Jesus Christ and professes faith in Him will become children of God. Jesus Christ is the only door, and He leaves it freely open to you and I today.
Practical application:
What might be hindering you from entering into a deeper relationship with Jesus? Take a moment to give thanks for the peace, joy, comfort and victory Jesus freely gives us.
