The Love of God

DAY 1 OF 7

DAILY SCRIPTURE

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
(1 John 4:16)

GOD IS LOVE

It is impossible to exaggerate God’s love.

From all eternity, God has been - and always will be - pure, unrestrained, relentless, infinite, faultless, beautiful love. We were designed to desire a love as great as this, and because of Jesus we can all experience the love that we were created for, a love that can only be found in a relationship with God.

The Bible tells us that God is love. You can know his love, rely on his love and live in his love. Amazing! And God’s love is not just general in nature, it is also deeply personal and directed specifically towards you. You are the target of God’s love!

Jesus’ words in John 15:9 are breathtaking,

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”

Take a moment to let those words really sink in... consider the extent of the love that God the Father has for Jesus. This is the same love that God extends to you. Remaining in God’s love positions you to receive all God has for you and helps you to see yourself and the world around you like he does. God’s love is a love that can be fully trusted, wholeheartedly explored and experienced, and can impact every area of your life as you walk with him.

THOUGHTS FOR PRAYER AND REFLECTION

  • What does the phrase “God is love” mean to you?
  • Ask the Lord if there are any areas in your life that he wants to increase your awareness of his love?
  • How could becoming increasingly aware of God’s love for you help as you go about your day to day life?

About this Plan

The Love of God

The love of God is incredible, extravagant and deeply personal. In this 7 day devotional we will reflect on 1 John 4:7-21, and position ourselves in God’s love as we walk with Him in exploring the width, length, height and depth of His endless love for us.
