Jonah: Taking Part In God's Big Story

DAY 3 OF 5

PREVIOUSLY IN JONAH...

After running from God and finding himself in great danger at sea, Jonah is thrown overboard and left to drown. God sent a huge fish to swallow Jonah and rescue him from death. It was during this time that Jonah cries out to God and praises God for rescuing him. God commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

Read Jonah Chapter 3

1. In this chapter, we see the story take an unexpected turn. God speaks to Jonah again, and this time he obeys! Why do you think the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time?

2. How did the Ninevites respond to God’s message that Jonah shared and what did they do as a result?

3. How did God respond to the Ninevites when they chose to give up their evil ways and call out to Him?

4. What do you think God’s desire was towards the people of Nineveh in the book of Jonah? Why do you think this?

5. What can we learn from the way God treated the Ninevites that we can apply to our own lives?

About this Plan

Jonah: Taking Part In God's Big Story

Through Jonah’s journey with God, we can discover a bigger story- the story of God’s love and mercy for the whole world! Like a puzzle where every piece is unique and important to create a wonderful picture, we each have a part to play in God’s story which He wants us to explore with Him. (Bible Study for ages 12-18)
